Amelia Sagrabb is an emerging contemporary dance artist based in Perth, Western Australia. She has performed in and presented her work in STRUT’s 2021 season ‘Short Cuts’ and in Perth’s Fringe World Festival 2021. Most recently, she has worked as a dancer in Montserrat Heras and Elsa Bignell’s project ‘Together we Unravel’ (2021), and has worked as a producer for Giorgia Schijf and Jesse Vivante’s new work ‘Reimagined’ (2021). Â
Her choreographic Practice serves as a method for her to conceptualise womanhood in the modern world and present her ideas through movement, with the overarching goal of encouraging viewers to think.
Amelia graduated from the Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University in May 2020, receiving a BFA (Honours) majoring in Dance and minoring in Sociology. Here she performed works by Pam Tanowitz, Jordan Lloyd, Sean Curran, Erik Thurmond and Chien-Ying Wang. Her studies included a year at Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance, where she worked with Roni Chadash, Noa Zuk, Batsheva Dance Company and Vertigo Dance Company. Â
Amelia has also undertaken intensive studies with STRUT Dance, Peridance/Hubbard Street Dance, Sydney Dance Company and Co:3 Australia. Amelia is a certified yoga teacher and teaches in Perth, Western Australia.
